"what is it" and FAQ

archart.us is the international version of archart.it, a huge collection of archaeology and art photographic images available on line (original website is in italian language). Both are non-profit websites. Access and use are fully free.

The photo galleries are divided in two main sections: modern photos and antique images.

The modern photos galleries contain high quality images in full color taken later then 1980. Are on slide film or digital. Each subsection is dedicated to a country.

The antique images galleris are divided in ancient photos, antiquarian and old books, and engravings subsections. Here you can find digital version of ancient archaeology and art books (XVIII to XIX century), B/W ancient photos earlier than 1950, and lot of ancient prints and engravings (XVIII to XIX century).

archart.us is owned by ArchArt, an italian image bank specializing in images related to archaeological and art. Most of the images are property of the photographer Giovanni Lattanzi.

archart.us is easy to use and fully free.

It is a tree based structure, geographically indexed.

Go to the main index, choose the continent, then the country, then the city and finally the site to see.

On request, the images visible on archart.us are available in medium and high resolution (digital file, dupes or original slide).

Scientific and academic use is free but only after approval on written request sent to info@archart.us

Non-profit users can obtain for free only medium size images (1100 pixels on longer side, watermark free)

Commercial and editorial use of high resolution images (300 DPI, up to A3 size) is allowed under previous agreement and payment of commercial fee, including (where necessary) Ronchey's law fee or other fees. Send requests to info@archart.us

After your request we'll give you all details to obtain (where necessary) official permission to use such images. High resolution images will be delivered only after positive permissions release from officials and owners of the goods.

Any commercial/editorial use of the images is permitted only according to the rules of Ronchey law and/or other laws related to copyright of the owners of the objects/places photographed.

Film makers and filmproduktion companies can contact us directly to have special rate commercial relationships with us to use our images in their works, movies and media productions.
